FGA-30 Intravaginal Sponges from Pharmplex are meant for sheep and goats to control breeding. These polyurethane sponges are infused with Fluorogestone. FGA Vaginal Sponges come with 30mg, 40mg or 45mg Fluorogestone acetate per sponge. All vaginal sponges have a drawstring so that the veterinarian can easily remove the sponge when required. FGA-30 Intravaginal Sponges have Fluorogestone acetate, potent progesterone, which can lengthen the di-oestrus stage of the reproductive cycle.
These vaginal sponges can control breeding in sheep and goats as they can synchronise oestrus and ovulation. But these sponges cannot make a barren animal fertile. Once the required time has passed, one can remove the sponge to end the progestational phase. When using the sponge, one can inject PMSG at the time of sponge removal. This leads to an immediate start of the follicular phase in the sheep or goat that is under treatment. Follicles can develop to be followed by synchronised oestrus and ovulation.
