Pelican Manufacturing provides a range of pressure care items for geriatric patients in nursing homes and hospitals. Sit, slide and stand pads from Pelican Manufacturing assist patients to slide their hips to back of the chair and slide forward to stand up.
They feature a gold webbing buckle with webbing loops that need to be fastened behind the chair in order to restrict sliding forward. These pads need the aid of one or more carers or physiotherapist to hold webbing loops while the patient tries to sit. To control the speed while the patient slides forward to stand up, the buckle can be released and carers can hold the webbing loops. These sit, slide and stand pads are available in varying sizes such as ‘Wide’ pads, which feature 50cm wide x 60 cm deep with green webbing handles. ‘Extra Wide’ pads are 60 cm wide x 60 cm deep with blue webbing handles. ‘Extra Extra Wide’ pads measure 70 cm wide x 60 cm deep with grey webbing handles.
Sit, slide and stand pads are not advisable to use without the guidance of the manual handling trainer, occupational therapist or a physiotherapist. These pads can be either hand or machine washed with temperature not exceeding beyond 80 degree Celsius.
