The operation of auto-retractable syringes is similar to that of the traditional forms of syringes and hence requires no prior training to use them. These syringes can be used one handed and enable seamless delivery of the medication. The difference between an auto retractable safety syringe and a traditional one is that the needle of these safety syringes is automatically broken after the injection is done. When these syringes is removed from the muscle, the needle automatically goes back into the syringe plunger when the plunger rod is fully depressed. During this activation process, the needle hub and piston seal is broken. Hence, the needle cannot be used again.
