The AirMatt Lateral Air Transfer system, available from Midmed , is designed to aid both the staff transferring the patient as well as provide extra patient comfort. AirMatt offers smooth, secure transfers; reducing the need for lifting, shifting and sliding that often contributes to pain and discomfort. AirMatt contains no metal parts so patients can remain on it through orthopedics, nursing, radiology, neurology, oncology procedures as well as through X-rays.
The system operates with air as the soft nylon mattress is perforated with hundreds of tiny holes on the underside. When the AirMatt air supply is attached, the inflated mattress pumps continuous air out of the perforations, eliminating friction between the pad and mattress.
