The Exergen TAT-5000 non-invasive thermometer from GE Healthcare is used for temperature measurement by medical professionals. The device measures the arterial temperature through infrared readings on the forehead. The device operates rapidly, accurately and is efficient against cross contamination.
The TAT-5000 requires a slight stroke on the forehead and behind the earlobe to attain a reading. Because the temporal artery is so close to the heart, measuring it can help provide a very good representation of the core body temperature. The device is well suited for neonate, pediatric and geriatric patients.
