Cottman SBA is a fully Australian owned company manufacturing medical devices like defibrillator battery systems, power infuser fluid resuscitation pumps, automated external defibrillator systems and defibrillator electrodes. Operational since the 1950’s at Lane Cove Site, the company has a network of distribution agencies that provide the necessary sales support. With the necessity to administer intravenous solutions at a constant rate to a patient for controlled amounts of time, Red Eye Drip Rate Monitors is perfectly suited to administer both solution and blood.
Red Eye Drip Rate Monitors watch the intravenous administering of blood or solution automatically and frees nursing staff from having to check infusion rates constantly. Apt for clinical treatments when medicines have to be infused at miniscule quantities, these Red Eye Drip Monitors take note of each drop of fluid, calculating the flow rate in millilitres per hour and displays it in the back lighted LCD monitor. A red light detects the flow of fluid through a fluid flow passage and when the fluid pressure is not accurate, an auditory or visual alarm is activated.
A bracket fixed around the intravenous drip passage detects the fluid pressure and optical fibres transmit a signal. The signal’s intensity is picked up a sensor within the remote housing, which in turn activates the alarm. Nursing staff are then alerted when the preset solution or blood flow rate varies from parameters, when the infusion bag is empty and when the specified fluid have been infused.
