The Children’s Medical Research Institute focuses exclusively on fundamental research into human development and cell biology. They study the genes and molecules that make our bodies’ cells grow and develop from the moment of conception onwards, and the genes that maintain the healthy function of our bodies. It is through understanding the most basic inner workings of  cells that they aim to find the insight needed to advance the prevention and treatment of many diseases that rob children of the healthy life that should be their birthright.

Diseases that also affect adults, such as cancer, epilepsy, and glaucoma, have similar basic origins.  In this way, the knowledge that arises from their research will have enormous implications for everyone. The broad spread of expertise within the Institute and our state-of-the-art facilities provide a fertile ground for discovery. The Children’s Medical Research Institute is part of a global network of scientists with the same vision.  Through international partnerships and the sharing of knowledge they can achieve their goal of a healthier future for all children.
