Aidacare  has been appointed by the Department of Veterans Affairs as a contracted provider for its Mobility and Functional Support (MFS) programme that assists thousands of veterans throughout Australia every year.

The family-run Aidacare group is a care organisation and one of five national contracted providers for the new MFS contract of the DVA, which provides for the healthcare of about 263,000 veterans, war widows and widowers and other entitled people throughout the country.

The new MFS model aims to ensure that veterans have access to consistent, high quality, clinically appropriate aids or appliance services through contractual arrangements.

According to Shane Walker, GM Marketing Manager, Aidacare, with their experienced staff and partner teams operating at over 60 showroom and office locations across all states and territories, the company is ideally placed to provide localised and personalised service to meet the specialised needs of MFA clients.

Maintaining frontline customer service excellence as the priority business focus at each location, Aidacare’s business model provides for service to prescriber and DVA client to be completed in the first instance by local teams at every opportunity.

Operating through single phone and fax contacts for the cost of a local call as well as a single email address, the system directs callers to frontline staff who will service the local DVA client.

Aidacare offers a large and diverse range of more than 3400 individual line items spanning the entire MFS range within the DVA’s Rehabilitation Appliances Programme, RAP, which assists entitled persons to be as independent and self-reliant as possible in their own homes.

MFS products range from eating utensils, walking aids, chairs, wheelchairs and electric scooters through to powered adjustable beds and home modifications.

Aidacare stocks more than $5 million worth of new stock and another $3 million worth of hire stock in its network of warehouse and distribution centres.

To enhance product access and service for DVA veterans and their care providers, Aidacare offers:

  • A single national catalogue of all equipment tendered as well as a dedicated section on the Aidacare website with full product specifications and RAP criteria
  • DVA Contract Managers backed by the resources of Aidacare’s two major DVA processing offices in Brunswick, Victoria, and Ingleburn, NSW, and over 40 equipment consultants nationally specialising in equipment within the MFS range who conduct home and hospital visits and trials with the local prescriber
  • DVA provider partners in more than 40 regional and key locations to facilitate local coverage and support for veterans throughout the DVA programme
  • Prompt and efficient delivery service, achieving delivery within 48 hours from time of order across the entire Aidacare business
  • Comfortable and professional showroom environments for clients and prescribers as well as repair, maintenance and home modification capabilities
The Aidacare Group brings together the skills, industry knowledge and credibility of more than 180 dedicated specialist staff drawn from the former Admed, Lifestyle and Rehab, CVMS and StatemedTasmania organisations.

Aidacare’s scope:

  • Extensive range of Aged Care products, equipment and services for individuals and care providers to facilitate mobility and daily living needs
  • Ward use equipment, rehabilitation products and special recuperative services for hospitals, post-operative rehabilitation, nursing homes and palliative care
  • CASE services and equipment used by occupational therapy professionals for clients with special permanent support needs
  • Preventative maintenance from Service and Maintenance teams that supply in-field service support for equipment and undertake preventative maintenance at aged care facilities and hospitals
Aidacare participates strongly in several State and Federal Government contracts for healthcare services, including MASS in Queensland, DVA (Dept. of Veterans Affairs), ENABLE in New South Wales, DES in South Australia, TAC and VWA in Victoria, and the Aids & Equipment Program in Victoria.
