ANSTO radiopharmaceuticals and industrials are the producers of medicinal products from the isotopes which are obtained from the nuclear reactor. The MIBGen Iobenguane Injection Diagnostic that they provide are injections that help in the analysis of scintigraphic localisation of paragangliomas and ganglioneuromas. They also assist in the process of detection, staging and follow-up on treatment of neuroblastomas.
The chemical representation of these diagnostic injections is defined as meta-Iodobenzyl (123I) Guanidine in Isotonic Phosphate buffer containing 1% v/v Benzyl Alcohol. The pH value of these injections ranges from 4.0 to 7.0. The radiochemical purity of these products is estimated to be not less than 95% of the radioactivity of the chromatogram. They are also estimated to be not more than 4% of radioactivity found to be in peak relating with iodide and not greater than 1% of the radioactivity to be found on other peaks. Their specific radioactivity is measured to be not less than the 10 GBq of Iodine per gram of Iobenguane base. The radioactive content of these products ranges from 2 ml to 4 ml at calibration. These diagnostic injections have a radioactive concentration of 100 MBq Iodine per ml (± 10%), while standardisation. Available in different packet sizes, these injections expire after 16 hours, after calibration.
